Nope, not the jar itself, the band, lid & gasket blew off (spewing hot pasta sauce mostly on my left hand and arm).

Also, let cool before you freeze.

And great tip leaving lids off until frozen.

Clean any leaked liquid off the outside of the jar with a hot soapy rag because obviously anything outside the jar is prone to spoilage.

Cleanup took several hours.

Use a church key (bottle opener with a point) use the pointed end to open the jar.

If you puncture the lid it will relieve the pressure and the glass should be fine, if it does not get punctured then the lid had been bent and removed and you are good.

Let the pressure out for 2 to 3 seconds and then let it rip.

With the white plastic tops, even with plastic wrapped lid, there's always going to be a teeeeny bit of air loss.

Not by a lot but enough to not violently explode.

I found that one of my 1 gallon glass jugs (filled with honey) had exploded.

We had a heat index of 109 for the past 2 days.

I have never had this problem before.

I opened the shed doors and let the bees recycle what was on the floor.

It was a very big mess.
